Well, here’s an update on the first portrait I’ve ever done since I was so unhappy with it. Of COURSE I added my cubist element and the triangles and shapes made their way in!!! They keep creeping up on me!!! Not done yet but we’re getting there….
These portraits are scary, terrifying and the these walls I’ve built up about my insecurity are nagging, but they are slowly being broken down, and who knows faces may show up in my work more often….who knows….it’s the journey and I’m definitely on one!! Just like you!
Peace and Light…WK
Last post I showed you two pieces I did for our school walls. I gave this challenge to a group of my 8th graders and look what that had to come back at me with!! They are so good!! This will make a nice installation and I can’t wait to see the other smaller installation they are working on.
Panels my students have added!! The two brown and one red are theirs and the white mine….
I think they might be showing me up!! I’m so proud of them. These installations have a lot of promise. And it comes from 13 and 14 year olds. A great reminder of why I teach and don’t just work as a solitary artist.

This is my first attempt at playing around with Encaustic….
I LOVE IT!!!!! And can’t wait to play more!!!
Happy Sunday to you! Well, I got ahold of some foam board which I just loved and decided on this next triangular piece I was going to build up some sections. Then I thought, well I have all these wire pieces as well, wire not incorporate just a tad of wire work into my cubist pieces as well to soften them up….so here’s the beginnings…the VERY beginnings of this piece….
Well, and not to mention a previous piece I expoxied that looks amazing with the layer of envirotex on it…is taking a life-time to dry! It’s been a week and it’s still tacky to the touch….anyone with expoxy tips let me know! I’m open to all suggestions. I love the look, and granted it’s a thick layer because that’s what I’m going for, but I’ll have to paint something years in advance at this rate to show or sell!! 🙂
“paper towel series from this”….
And finally to this…Yeah…I’m so happy with it…And Yes it ended up being upside down from the beginning…just to show how you never can plan where your muse is going to take you. You’re at her mercy…
