Back from Vacay and school starts soon!!!!

Well, we’re back from Vacay ………..and here’s a few more sketches from my journal during vacay time.  I focused on faces because I’ll admit they are a weakness for me but mostly because that’s how I want to start the year with my students.

I am sad when summer is over because the illusion that I am a “full time artist” is shattered and I’m reminded oh so vehemently that I do have another job to go to in order to pay the bills….I’m just very lucky that it’s TEACHING art and keeps me on my toes and allows me to keep working on my own projects in bits and pieces.   But still I so enjoy the “illusion” the summer creates and am always left perplexed, anxious and sad when it’s over.  Not because I don’t love my job and my amazing students, but it’s that constant reminder that I have yet to make it to where I can survive on my Art alone and that September Stab every year never dulls.  But I won’t let it bring me down because I have 250 students waiting to take ART and they WANT to be there…..unlike Math class….so I can’t and won’t let them down….I’ve done over thirty pieces this summer and now I have 250 “MASTERPieces” waiting for me all with a face and a name.  Let me serve them well.

My husband and I also made a valiant attempt at getting all my art off the floor and out of the garage so we got it all hung in my studio and ready for showtime in October.

On “VACAY”

Ok, so I’m off on “VACAY” and am having withdrawals from being in my studio so I’m absorbing myself into my journal (iona handcrafted books, Scroll down to see her website on the sidebar, I’ll never use another journal again!

You KNOW I’m very frugal and try to give as many tips as I can on how to save money in art, but on my journal, I SPLURGE and it’s worth every penny!) anyway, just getting back down to basic sketching which I haven’t done in ahwile…and doing my morning pages which would make Julia Cameron  proud…so although my paints aren’t with me I’m still having fun and playing, which is what it’s all about anyway….as you all know my motto…Play and have fun!!

Don’t take yourself too seriously, just let your muses do their job and you do yours by enjoying every moment, so here are some pics of my sketches and my hubby and I on the beach….So if you feel compelled to comment or LIke or rate this post, supe!  If not just have fun and enjoy your own art.  Visit me on Facebook at Windykai: hummingbirdStudios and “Like” us if you wish and take a look around….or share your facebook with me if you’d like, I’d love to hear from you!  Peace and light my friend….WK
