Frugal Tips E-book

Check this out for some GREAT frugal tips!

Now just for fun I ordered some new stencils for Face Painting. From Crafter’s Workshop, Balzar Design, these too too fun stencils can help you create faces in a snap!

Now watch these videos and see what fun you can have with them!

I’ve only had a chance to play a little but this is what I’ve come up with….Which also helps with my “fear of Painting faces” as I’ve mentioned numerous times before!

Now Another great Product I”ve recently discovered are InkTense pencils put out by Derwent.  Now these are NOT cheap tools, but so far I can tell they are going to last a very long time and they’re so much fun they’re worth every penny.  They are much, well, exactly like WaterColor pencils, except with vibrant Inks and wow are they have made my Christmas break…I can’t stop using them!  As with Water Color pencils you can use them on their own as a pencil (boring in my humble opinion when that’s what Prismacolors are for!)  You can dip the tip in water and draw…amazing, you can draw with the pencil and spray with water for a great effect or draw with the pencil and brush over with a wet brush for an amazing result!  (My favorite!)  So below is a piece I just finished using mostly the pencils over canvas, molding paste and vintage papers.

So these are my new Toys and I hope you enjoy them as well!

If you got any new art toys for Christmas PLEASE share them in the comment section below, maybe a sample of you playing around with them and a link or name we could google so we can play too!  Would love to hear about some other new products (or at least new to me!)

Happy New Year!

This is a Commission I did my latest phase of mosaics and the client loved it. It was on the theme of Dreams and I think I captured the idea he wanted pretty well. And it was a nice completion to a fun series.

For the full three in the Series Look Below….

Next in a series of Mosaic Women from The Flavor of Mixed Media

This was so much fun, just to sketch out a woman and have fun with the mosaics…..these are little pieces that I plan to offer for $40-$50 at my shows for those who can’t do the big pieces. I’m really enjoying them….my husband not so much!! He has very different tastes!!!

Well, this is just a fun piece I did trying something new out of a book called “Flavor for Mixed Media” by Mary Betyh Shaw.  It was too much fun and has inspired me to add my own style to it…I can’t wait to play around with it more…check out the book…it’s too much fun!She Steps

SOOO, as you’ll see in my previous post I have a long standing fear of face drawing and painting.  Well, recently I started a grid project to help me get over this fear.  It’s turning out actually quite well and curing my fear of faces!  the grid system works great to get you off your feet and flying!  Here are the results!

Original Sketch:    And     Final Outcome:

As you can see the process went through some changes but the final outcome was exactly what I had in my head….I’m thrilled with the outcome and my patrons this weekend were equally excited.  I got  alot of attention on this piece this weekend in Plano and I am thrilled with the new direction my work is taking!  Change is always good and I’m ready for some change in my style…I guess that’s just the way we as artists work….I think great new things await as I explore this style.  I hope you stay with me as I continue to play with it!  Stay tuned for step by step directions on how I came up with this piece.  I’ll take each photo and explain where I was going and the process and products I used.  See you soon!!
