Austin show going great a frugal tip for showing cards!

20121027-121915.jpg

Hi all! Show going great and the coasters are flying off the shelf! We are, as always, meeting nice people with great ideas!

Below you’ll see C.Gilly at www.cgilly.com with some amazing prints in a fascinating sports/ Native American theme…..but what I love most was how he displayed his one of a kind cards in such an elegantly simple way on lovely rope with simple clips! It’s a highly mobile display method and lovely to look at! Give his website a look! You’ll love his style!

Great Show and New Frugal Tips!

Hi all,  I just returned from a great little show in Georgetown TX and had a super time!

Made some great sales but most of all I got some great tips from a New Artist that was only on his second show!  So it just goes to show that we can always learn and share (or steal) 🙂  ideas from each other no matter how long we’ve been at this game!

First of all Jim at www.jshepardstudios.com showed me http://www.qrstuff.com/  The newest gadget app that’s hitting the “phone world”  You can create a code for your own website so that buyers with the QR App downloaded to their phone can scan the code and it will take them directly to your website!  There’s also much more you can do if you explore the site!

So download a FREE QR Reader App on your phone and scan the code below:

IT WILL TAKE YOU DIRECTLY TO MY WEBSITE!

What a great tool to have on display at your booth so folks don’t have to remember your site….they can go directly to it!  It’s the new “wave” and you’ll start seeing these codes everywhere, if you haven’t already.  So jump on in and create your own code for your buyers, for FREE!

Finally Jim had a great storage idea that he used in his tent.  He had his pro-panels set up as below…..

But secretly behind it he had created a bin for storage using only cardboard and matching carpet from Home Depot to hide the “junk” from view of buyers.  See Below….

WHAT A GREAT IDEA JIM!  THANKS!!

So all in all with sales, time with my husband, meeting new people like Jim and getting these great frugal ideas, it was a super successful weekend!

First Outdoor Art Show

Well our first outdoor show and it was a great experience overall….the 50,000 crowd they promised was more like 5000 and I only sold three prints, but the guy next to me said he’s been doing this 25 years and it just wasn’t a good show.  He only sold one hand bag and a dress (to me!!)  All the artists were AMAZING, the setup was intense but the day was lovely and my husband and I truly enjoyed ourselves and thought….we could do this for the rest of our lives…but the end of the evening came with the first rain TX has seen in MONTHS leaving us rapidly pulling down the tent and art and rushing with the help of the other artists…like I said they were AWESOME….to cover my work and load the truck.  So although the ending was not one of fairy tales, our hearts are not changed.  We loved it and plan to do many many more.  And that’s what it’s all about anyway….the sales are nice but doing something that I love along side my husband….that you just can’t beat!!!

Almost Ready……in our own frugal way!

We worked and Spent our tails off getting ready for my first outdoor show.  Galleries are so nice and air-conditioned but I’ll have to admit I’m excited about the outdoor experience.  Just lots of water or Dr. Pepper and I’ll be fine. Along with my sweet hubby, you’ll see putting up lights below……also, I was nervous about our panels since we went the frugal way of course and just got closet shelving to hang at $10 a piece instead of MUCH MUCH more for pro-panel, but after putting them up with zip ties non the less, they disappear into the wall of the tent and all you see is my art.  Going cheap can pay off!!!!!    We also lucked out and found good track lighting at only $29 a set and my handy dandy husband hooked the lights up looking all professional.  Heck, It actually looks like we know what we’re doing!!!  Who Knew???  So  here’s a few peeks…..we’ll have the whole tent set up for practice next weekend.  Wow….I’ve never felt more at home…..
